Looooooost. Halp, please :)

Question for my mom friends, my OB office called and had scheduled a consultation next week with a specialist since I tested with borderline gestational diabetes. They told me it's just a consultation, my question is, what is the point of a consult when I'll be 37 1/2 weeks the day of the appointment? I don't see how it could be nessicary if all I've been told to do since finding out a month ago is watch my diet. No extra blood tests, testing at home, or ultrasounds to monitor Cassidy's size. Plus I'm full term. I don't think it's worth the 1 1/2 drive to the office. Am I missing something?
