I [20M] think I'm a good catch. Apparently online dating thinks otherwise.
I just got out of a 4 year relationship with someone because we grew apart and we wanted really different things in life. Still a bit sore about that, but that's not what I'm here for.
I thought that my best option would be to put myself out there, and it seems like everyone is on OKCupid and Tinder. So I did that. Put some info about myself, what I'd consider good pictures, and I've been trying to message everyone I would like to meet on there with what I would consider good conversation material that would actually let me get to know the person and open it up for further talks.
I'm a full time student, and I'm also a property manager. I'm fit, 5'11" (apparently short on these things), was on the olympic practice team for (sport redacted for anonymity), and I'm a hobbyist photographer. I just want someone I can talk with about topics that aren't completely superficial, I want some sort of physical chemistry, and hopefully some common interests. But at this point I'd just deal with any two of those, as it seems that all I get is bots, people who don't talk/can't hold a conversation for more than 2 lines, or people who are pretty obvious catfish.
I know that it's cocky to say, but I have my stuff together much better than 95% of my peers. I'm well read, I travel, I have stable income that is well above what most people my age make, and I come from a pretty decent family. I just want someone who would travel with me, that I can talk to, and that has a mutual physical connection. I'm respectful, neat and well dressed as well (and I've done my best to express this in my profile as well).
Is there something I'm missing here? Am I looking for what I want in the wrong places? I live in an area where if I'm not doing snow sports, the only thing there is to do is drink, and I'm not legal. Are there other places I can find what I'm looking for? Thank you for reading this.
tl;dr: What the hell am I doing wrong?
Edit: Whoever is downvoting people, please stop. Everyone here has only been adding to the conversation.
