Peer Review - Assignment #1
Thanks for reviewing.
Kyle is a patient man, but a guy can only take so much and sitting in the damn laundry mat every Saturday is too much. There is no point in even trying to pretend he isn’t pissed off and that the whole set up isn’t fair. Claire could have just as easily gone to the laundry mat and he to Michael’s soccer game. Kyle suggested that this morning and instead of the usual clipped no that usually shuts down every single one of his suggestions, Claire told him to get aboard the ship called family and quit complaining.
Kyle finished shoving the clothes in the washing machines, fed them quarters, and sat down trying to get as far from the noisy kids as he could. He hadn’t always hated doing laundry, but sitting in this filthy place was not anything like doing laundry back in college. Back then, they drank beer and watched the game while the clothes washed. The memory depressed Kyle even more. His whole life was not what he imagined it would be. He felt like life was playing a trick on him.
As he wallowed in self-pity and indignation that his life revolved around laundry, Kyle was overcome with an overwhelming desire to piss Claire off. He needed to get even with her for making his life all about a large household appliance. It was Saturday and he wanted a drink and didn’t care what she thought. He knew she would explode with fury at him for drinking in public at 11:00 AM. He didn’t care. A man’s got to do what a man’s got to do and this man needed out of the laundry mat cage so he can drink beer and blow money on the lottery.
