Can you convince me?

Hey my fellow peoples of the internet!

Let me start off by saying that I am a gamer. I am going to be building a new PC soon. Along with my new PC, I will be getting a new monitor. Most likely you know where this is going ;)

My build will be consisting of a 980 Ti. I for sure am going to be going with 1440p. Now here's my main question..I am EXTREMELY torn on what to do here. I know since I'm here in the Ultrawidemasterrace section, everybody is going to recommend that. Though I wanted to see why you would.

I have been looking at the Acer Predator X34/Asus PG348Q and the Asus PG279Q. As you may know, the PG279Q has a refresh rate up to 165hz. I have seen both the PG279Q and x34 at my local store, and they both...well..look amazing. Compared to my 1080p 60hz TV I have right now, they look light years better.

Back to the refresh rates, I know that other than price and the X34 being a higher resolution, the only other difference is the refresh rate. Am I going to notice a big difference with missing that 144/165hz if I went with an ultrawide?

Is ultra wide good for gaming? I don't play competitively, just for fun. Though I mainly do play FPS and other games such as ArmA, Battlefield, DayZ, GTA V, etc..

Another thing is, if I wanted to max games out (Probably excluding AA) on my 980 Ti, would one be enough? Or would I need 2? What makes this "Race" so godly? So I, pray to thee ultra wide masters for an answer!

Convince me, Convert me to to the ultra wide race, or give me any input! I would appreciate it a lot, thank you!
