Looking at Tevo Tarantula

As the title says I'm looking at getting my first 3d printer. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with this printer and how they like it. I've played around with them quite a bit at work (I work at a Micro Center and I'm responsible for keeping our 3d printers up and running). I don't currently have the money to invest in a Taz 5 or an Ultimaker which I was looking at initially, but one of my customers today recommended this printer. I looked at it and it seems really good, especially for the amount it costs. I am very much into tinkering and like assembling stuff so the DIY aspect appeals to me. I also like to know what is going on in my machines and how they work. For $240 it seems hard to beat and it seems very up-gradable.
