A hard hitting lesson taught by... Gravity!
So! After weeks of hard work I finally made enough to buy and outfit an exploration Anaconda. I don't even remember what station I bought her at. I was so excited to finally get her that I didn't even give the Asp that carried me across thousands of light-years worth of deliveries a second thought.
Fast forward a few days. I've been putzing around in deep space exploring systems between Obsidian Orbital and Barnard's Loop.
I find one seemingly normal planet and decide to land and see what totally bad ass pictures I can get. I bring my ship in at the same rate I've always used when landing on planets.
I finish my glide at around 15km and starting making my way to the surface. I get to around 1km and start leveling out.
800m, still coming in pretty hot
"Leveling out now..."
600m
"Leveling out now?!"
400m
"LEVELING OUT NOW PLEASE?!"
200m
"Ah fuck me...."
WAM!!! I slam into the surface of the planet. Thankfully, my shields took all but 2% of the damage.
As I sat looking across what could have been my lonely, desolate grave I remembered;
"Bigger planet, more gravity."
Thus concluded my first encounter with a high gravity planet!
