Darkzone Realization

Community

So playing today, last day of BETA on PC, I've had my fill of trying different builds and weapons, skills etc etc. I decided to go rogue just for the fun of it, not taking any loot, but just to go manhunt and get people chasing me.

I initially thought it was just a dick move to be rogue and kill people, but after a while when seeing players group up to chase me and my group, working out when to throw nades then push on us... it hit me. I was ADDING to the whole darkzone experience of these players as well as my own. The rush of hunting another player, the little extra paranoia when trying to extract, or seeing a player in the corner of your eye or on your pulse scan.

We survived the manhunt after about 10mins and met up with they guys after and we all shared the same sentiment. First thing I heard coming in over the proxy chat was "Good fight, good fight". Sure enough we went at it again a little while later after a restock.

Making a run from the south east to the north east, then to the west as manhunt, gathering players along the way to kill us. BUT, they had a group that flanked us, and we ended up getting pinned close to the safe room, so there was no winning for us, they got us and as they ran in the finish us off one of them said in a really excited tone "We got you this time! Good fight!". It wasn't a taunt, no one said "Eff you, get rekt noob" It was genuine. A couple of them waited out side the safe room as we respawned and came out, we chatted a bit. My group all left to sleep. I went rogue one last time before bed and let them kill me to drop my remaining keys for some other guys I met, and logged off for this BETA.

I enjoyed every second of it. People say going rogue has no payoff, I beg to differ.
