Have chord shortcuts changed?

I wanted to see if anyone else was having trouble with chord shortcuts. I’ve used them before, but now I can’t seem to create them as easily. I’m wondering if there’s a conflict with my options somewhere (but my settings are pretty much the default ones on a fresh install), if the feature’s changed, or if I’m running into a bug.

I can set a shortcut with <space>+Q (shortcut menu pops up), however, I want to set a shortcut with another key. If I try <space>+G, I get an open-parentheses inserted. <space>+Y inserts a “1”. <space>+A opens the options menu.

I did a quick search and I didn’t find any info. I’m using the current version (Jan 29, 2016) in the App Store for iOS. And on the current iOS 9.2.1. I’ve re-installed Nintype a few times, but no change.
