(DE) Concrete slabs on the walls in the undercroft

Does anyone know what these are used for? I'm aware of the slabs you wall-run over to upgrade the storm bow, but there are also four square slabs spread out on the walls that make a distinct noise when you run over them. Sorry if this is already a known thing, I've just never seen a video clarifying their purpose
