Trespass laws in NJ
I was recently in traveling in New Jersey from out of state, got lost and pulled over at a closed for the season camp for my daughter to go pee since we had been driving for a while and were in the middle of nowhere. We walked in a little ways because it was winter, the trees were bare and she didn't want to be seen. We were there only about 5minutes but when we got to our car a man was there taking a photo of my license plate and yelling at me that I would receive a summons in the mail. When I tried to apologize and politely explain what had happened he asked if I would like him to call the state police and have me towed. We left immediately and I am now wondering what exactly will happen. I am a school teacher and I'm very worried about the effect a criminal charge could have for me. Will I need to appear in court or will I just be able to pay a fine and call it done?
