On the subject of making actions match stated objectives - it's called "integrity", people

I have no idea how they're going to abolish nuclear weapons when all they do is throw pep rallies for themselves. Instead of wasting all of that time and energy doing hip hop dance performances, why don't they do something that would benefit society like running a soup kitchen or cleaning up their city? For an organization that claims to be for the world, they're incredibly insular in all of their actions. Source

Makes a good point, doesn't it? All SGI members do is go from meeting to meeting. Occasionally they put on a big performance for themselves. Big whoop de doo. And just how is promoting Ikeda connected in any logical, rational, meaningful way to world peace?? Non sequitur theater at its best.

Back when I was a new recruit, a starry-eyed new member, I suggested to my group that I knew someone (someone I'd gone scuba diving with) who needed some help - he didn't make much money, and the city had sent him a notice that the trim around the windows on his house needed to be scraped and painted or else he'd be liable for citations etc., and he didn't have enough money to pay for it to be done. I (adorably) suggested that perhaps we could make an afternoon project of this and go over to his house for a few hours and help him out.

See, I thought that SGI was a group that helped people O_O

My MD group chief snorted in derision, and in the most contemptuous, disdainful tone you could possibly imagine, said, "I'm not going to spend my time working on some dope's house for nothing." Cold splash of reality in the face O_O

If everyone in your group is only doing things for and with themselves, well, it's not going to change anything in the world at large, for all its talk about "human revolutions" O_O
