Russ Reynolds is battered--but not broken

Vignette

Derek Christian is standing backstage against a wall, and the camera is framed in such a way that it would make sense for there to be someone standing next to him.

Derek: Derek Christian here, my guest at this moment is "Danger" Russ Reynolds who is...
He turns to notice that Russ is not standing next to him as he was before, but is sitting down against the wall, stretching a leg out. He is sweaty and very visibly tired.

Derek: ...who is sitting down! Are you okay, do you need a second or...?
Russ: No! No, I'm fine, I'm just a bit tired. I thought I could get through this on my feet but... I mean you saw out there how it went, it was anything but a cakewalk! I expected that much though, lot of talent in that ring. You're like, you're free to join me down here. We're all friends here, sit sit sit.
Derek looks at the camera confused for a second but decides it's easier to just go along with it. He awkwardly makes his way to the floor and sits down cross legged. The cameraman carefully joins them.
Derek: Okay, let's talk about tonight. You made your big debut in WiR, how do you feel it went?
Russ: Y'know, it's hard to say. I'm definitely my biggest critic, that's no secret. I study a lot of tape, I overthink things, I always ask myself what I could have done better. I'm a fighter by trade, this is how I put food on my plate, so I'm always trying to workshop and find better ways to be efficient in the ring. But to be honest? The main thing I'm thinking about right now--and excuse the language--is holy shit, I did it. I mean...I teamed with Erik friggin' Von Jarrett. He told me he was looking forward to working with me! That's...that's validation, y'know? I used to watch his stuff all the time from MOSES, he's a master. Not to take anything away from Mark or Maverick, but...you know what I mean?
Derek: Sure, I understand. What do you think will be next for you here?
Russ: I'm not much of a thinker, I'm more of a doer. Things work out for me better when I just do. So, I'm not sure. I guess my main objective right now is getting into the Battle Royale, winning, and becoming number one contender. I said it before and I'll say it again, just getting here is an achievement for me, but I'm far from done working. This is just the beginning. I'm hurtin' today, but I feel like a million bucks. Tomorrow I'm just gonna get up, train even harder, and do whatever I gotta to win the title.
Derek: The Korean White Tiger Hwo Rang, who was one of your opponents tonight, said today that he blames you directly for ruining his moment, hurting his pride, and promises to hunt you down like a dog. Does that worry you?
Russ: Like I said, I'll do whatever I gotta do to win the title. Hwo Rang definitely took it to me tonight, but I think he's only seen the tip of the iceberg as far as what I'm capable of. He wants to beat up innocent people to try to prove a point, try to...I dunno, I guess show what he's gonna do to me? Talk's one thing, he can close his eyes and fantasize about tearing me apart all he wants, but I dare him to come try me. Like, the real me. Try that stuff on me, see what happens. I'm not running, any time, any place he's feeling lucky, I'm ready.
Derek: There you have it folks, Russ Reynolds calling his shot and declaring his desires to become the number one contender. Russ, thank you for your time, best of luck to you.
Russ: Thanks, hope you didn't uh, get your suit dirty sitting down here, I should have thought of that before I asked you to sit on the floor with me. That's my bad.
Derek: Nah, you're fine.
