Jumping on the wagon

Hey all,

I'm a new fan to hockey. I'm 28 from England. I have been watching the hockey for about two months and have settled on the islanders. I like the team, the players, the logo and the colours. I watched a few episodes of how some sitcom (I forget the name) and the guy was a massive Mets and rangers fan. So, that got my into sports and quite quickly settled on the mets. Not such a big fan of the Rangers (actually quite dislike them) and after spending time researching, love the isles. So, that said, what should I research? Which past games? Past players? What important information? I'll have a look on the right and check out any helpful links.

Also, what are the best ways for a new fan to keep up together with prospects? Thanks all
