Am I cut out for working in a foster group home?
Hello! :)
I have a bachelor's in psych and have been working a miserable, unfulfilling yet high-paying job in the corporate world for 2.5 years. I was recently offered an interview to work in a group home for foster children with behavioral and mental problems.
I'm very excited, but also nervous because I feel like I'm not cut out for this work. Also, it pays less than half my current salary...which is fine and all, I'm not super into money. But, I'm worried that it'll be a bigger deal than I think it is.
How do I know I can do this? What if I epic fail and I'm not as good as it as I hope? Maybe compassion & empathy only gets you so far.
UPDATE: I quit my corporate job! Thinking I'll do a combo of the foster home and another (low key) office job til school starts.
