How was your experience conceiving? Did your child have autism?
Hi, I wanted to write this to vent, seek advice, and see what other peoples experience were. I feel like if I read someone's experience rather than some statistics online, it would make me feel better. I am 23 and I was diagnosed with PCOS a few months ago. The most difficult thing to accept is a chance of infertility. I absolutely love children and could not wait to be a mom. I seriously think the best compliment anyone could ever give me is that I would be a great mom. I am in no way ready to have a baby right now, but I am super stressed and anxious that I wont be able to when I am ready. I know everyone's body is different, but I was wondering how your experience was? Were there any complications? If so, what?
Also, I would really love to have my own children, but I am considering adopting instead because I read this paper (http://www.nature.com/mp/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/mp2015183a.html) in which they found women with PCOS have a higher risk of having a child with ASD. I worry that if I am even able to conceive, it may wrong for me to have a child knowing that theres an increased risk. I used to be a babysitter for children with autism and I absolutely loved them all. However, I saw how their peers treated them and caught a slight glimpse of the difficulties they had to go through. I know it is a hard life. Is that fair for me to have a child and put them through a difficult life? What are your thoughts on this?
I hope this does not come off as mean. I am in no way against anyone with PCOS having children, this is just something I am thinking about for myself and was looking for advice because it makes me really sad to think about.
EDIT: Thank you so so so much for commenting, reading these made me feel extremely better about the situation and my worries.
