Lenovo Laptop- No Bootable Device

Forgive me, I don't know much about computers- this isn't even my laptop. But anyways, the laptop turned off out of the blue one day and when turned on next, it started loading something, some kind of update, got stuck at 4%, and crashed. Now, it pulls up a "no bootable device" thing whenever it's turned on. Is there anything I can do without the boot disk?
