Multiple cavities, very little insurance, help?
Hi r/Dentistry!
I'm a 22 year old female who hasn't been to the dentist in 2 years and who grew up not making regular dentist appointments unless something was terribly wrong. I've had about 6 fillings in the past along with one root canal and all my wisdom teeth pulled (impacted).
I recently went to a dental clinic and had these xrays done: http://imgur.com/a/nYoAl
They said I have cavities on 15MO, 45DO,25DO, 25 MOD, 35DO, and need a crown on 37 along with a lot of other possible cavities in neighboring teeth. My insurance doesn't kick in until April 26 and it only covers $380 which in my part of Canada is about 3 fillings only. I don't have a lot of money but enough that I am not eligible for low income options.
I have an appointment tomorrow with my dentist (who I last visited in 2014) but I am quite nervous and I'd love more than one opinion. Should I get them all filled? Do I need to fill any of them right away or can I wait 2 months? Do I need a crown (which won't be covered by insurance)? What can I do to improve my dental health?
In terms of current dental health, I do my best (so not always) to brush and floss twice a day and mouthwash once a day. I try not to consume too much sugar, but have some sweetener in coffee, and the occasional dessert, etc.
Thanks so much in advance! Your help is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
A very nervous young lady
