Long time lurker seeking advise for partially paralyzed dog:(

My dog Oscar has a herniated disc in his neck. The specialty vet recommended that I seek surgery soon or the paralysis will affect his deep sensory nerves. After a certain point, surgery would be less effective. He's 7 and is a Pomeranian. Right now I am doing strict crate rest and carrying him outside. But my question is... Are there any other options to receive money for his surgery? Can I go through a charity? I have a gofundme account set up but I don't know many people willing to donate. The surgery will cost around 3,800$ And it's too much for me to save up in a short time.
