Please mind the gap. (What you need to know about the recent subreddit compromise)
Hi friends!
A couple of moderators (not naming names, but if you use your detective skills, you'll notice they're no longer with us) went and got their accounts hacked by some big internet meanies!
Luckily, with the help of reddit admin u/redtaboo, we were able to restore the subreddit to a quite healthy state. So please, give him a round of applause, as we wouldn't be here right now if it weren't for him!
Anyways! What we lost was some posts, some flairs (possibly), and around an hour of our time. We'll keep on working to make sure the subreddit's secure, but in the meantime, you all don't have to worry.
I'd like to emphasize that the hackers do not gain the login info to your account by compromising a moderator's account. Reddit's account info is kept secure and not given out to subreddit moderators, so you're all safe and sound.
I'd very much prefer it if all content relevant to this breach is kept within this thread. Thank you very much!
