[HELP] +Large Power Up

I am currently stuck on mission 5-8 where you have to pop 4 large tsums to complete the mission, and I have tried to use the +large power up, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Does anyone know how the power up actually works? Is there something specific I have to do during the game for it to activate? Thanks.
