Effexor helps my pain but makes me feel numb and tired

Rx/Meds

I have had depression for the better part of a decade now. Around September I started messing around with supplements to see if it would help my mood.

I was feeling good for a while and came off of welbutrin and went to a really small dose of the effexor. I felt like a normal person for a month or two. Then around thanksgiving I had a really bad fibromyalgia flare up. I have had a bunch of issues with it in the past but this was worse than ever. I tried everything, diet, exercise, supplements, etc and nothing worked.

Thinking it was just fibromyalgia related I went on gabapentin and it didn't help the pain much but me mood seemed to be better. I felt more like myself but still had the fibro issues. I began feeling severely depressed and chronically fatigued so I uped my dose of effexor and most of the fibro symptoms have gone away. It's weird because I don't really recall having such chronic pain before trying to get off the effexor.

The thing is, after being on such a low dose and going back on it, I can really see the difference it makes on me mentally. It makes me feel emotionally numb and blank. It makes me feel sedated and tired. It helps with anxiety and fibro but makes me feel so empty and dull. I feel less intulectually stimulated and don't feel as sharp. I feel like I seek out stimulus to try and get out of the dull foggy feeling. (addictions, etc) My body feels better while on it but my brain feels like a void. In the past few years I thought my depression was from my addictions but now I'm realizing I have a addictions because I feel so numb. Seeing how much better I was doing for those two months made me realize how badly I don't want to go through life like this.

So I feel stuck on this shitty med now. I have tried to get off countless times and it always ends up bad. Now I'm having all the new fibro symptoms when trying to get off which makes me feel like I'm gonna be stuck on this shit for life. It's like my brain needs it to be normal.

If anyone has experience switching to another med with better results please let me know.
