What exactly is Daredevil's...staff?...baton?...cane?

So I've read some early Lee Daredevil stories and a handful of modern stuff, as well as watched the Netflix series and I still have no clue as to what exactly Daredevil's primary weapon is supposed to be. At first, I thought it was his blind person's cane that he outfitted with a grappling hook to swing around with but I've also seen them as two escrima sticks and even just a single, short baton. Does he switch weapons or something? Does the weapon even have a name? I have never understood this.
