Has anyone tested whether the small SPECIAL boosts from equipment / clothing are worth it? (Plus a bit of Charisma/persuasion testing)
I was wondering about this, because I'm using a mod that increases the spawn rate of legendary enemies, which means lots of legendary gear. I usually default to stuff that raises SPECIAL stats, but I was wondering, does it make much of a difference?
I noticed the Fallout wiki had info on Charisma and barter prices, but nothing on persuasion chances. So recently on my second game through, I decided to savescum to test a medium/orange persuasion check (Flirting with Piper when she gets to Admiring you.)
I tested 80 times at my base of 6 Charisma, then 40 times at 8 Charisma.
At 6 Charisma, I had about a 50/50 chance of success or failure, with a tiny edge toward success. At 8 Charisma, I failed the first time then succeeded 39 times in a row, so I figured that was probably a decent enough test.
So from that alone, it looks like a couple points of Charisma can have a pretty big impact on persuasion, making it worthwhile to keep some +CHA clothing in your inventory.
Has anybody done anything like this for other stats (e.g. Intelligence and hacking)?
