Future Monster In Law/Worse Person Ever

My fiancee (20M) and I (20f) have been dating since 2009, in 2014 he proposed and we planned our wedding for May 2016. However in 2015 his mom (we will call her k-mama) decided that if we got married before graduation that she would make life a living hell, (take away his car, tuition, disowning him etc). So I called the venue, caterer, DJ & photographer in tears to cancel. I have had a difficult time getting over the trauma of cancelling my wedding and I decided to confront the monster over the new years holiday. Upon brining it up she exclaimed that she was more hurt then I could have been because she wasn't told that he was going to propose ahead of time. Then continues to announce in from of his entire family that she never wanted us to get engaged or married in the first place so I shouldn't be surprised. **Edited for name change
