24" LED Cinema Display overheating

I recently got an LED cinema display for really cheap, but it has two problems which I think are related. First, it looks to me like the LEDs on the bottom are dimmer than they should be; this causes the monitor to start to become dim towards the bottom. Also, the bottom third of the display becomes absurdly hot to the touch after about 10 minutes of use, and the bottom bezel becomes too hot to touch for more than a few seconds. Is there some repair I can do? Or would I have to replace the entire LCD panel, which would cost more than twice what I paid for the display?
