Netmarble: a fix that could address all complaints about Team Up
This proposal is for public games.
The computer always picks the character for you, but it does it in order of strongest to weakest (using a simple formula). You enter the lobby but you don't see who the other players are, just that they're there. You only see the characters once the match starts, which happens as soon as the third player joins.
What will this solve? No more kicking, minimize waiting, no need to get ready, no more asking for people to hit ready or to start.
If you don't like the team and leave the game, you don't get to use that character anymore. Network disconnects or force-close will let you reuse the character as it is today, but it's your choice if you want to spend time restarting the app or just try to play out the match.
The more characters you have who can solo the boss, you are better off reward-wise and time-wise. I estimate that this could save up to an hour of wait time every day if you run 50 characters. As you go down to your weaker characters, the matches become more challenging and you are better off fun-wise.
To increase the fun factor, make it so that there are no revives in a match. Those extra lives encourages sloppy gameplay.
I know intra-alliance players will probably hate this idea, so this is meant only for public games.
