College student summoned for Jury Duty (Illinois) - My parents responded without notifying me?

I am currently away at college (in MI). A summons to jury duty was sent to me (at my parents house) sometime at least a week ago. Instead of contacting me about it, my parents filled it out requesting an exemption (?) and sent it back to the government without my knowledge. When I called home today, my mother said the request was denied (I do not know how she received word back). This was the first I've heard of the summons.

Some questions:

  • How do I get information on where/when I've been called to serve? My parents did not make any copies or write down information before sending the card back, so I have no information on the call. I do not have access to my Juror ID Number, Electronic Signature number, date of summons, etc.

  • What laws did my parents break doing this? (Not necessarily important at the moment, but if anything comes of this, I'd like to have a heads-up.)

  • Is there a way I can ask for an postponement after being denied an exemption?

  • I am looking into becoming a Michigan resident, would that affect serving jury duty in Illinois? Do I still qualify as an Illinois resident?

Information about me that might preemptively answer questions:

  • 20 years old.

  • Paid Illinois taxes last year and was planning on filing Illinois again this tax season (as a dependent of my parents).

  • Attended a university in Michigan since fall of 2014.

  • Lived in university dorms 8/2014 - 6/2015 and 7/2015 - 5/2016. I will be moving off campus on 5/16/16.

  • Had a job in MI 10/2014-5/2015. Had a job in IL 5/2015-7/2015.

  • Currently hold an Illinois ID card and am registered to vote in Illinois.

  • I was not planning on returning to Illinois until Thanksgiving. I do not have a car.

Thanks for the help =)

TL;DR: I'm at college. Jury summons sent to parents' house, 400 miles away. They filled it out w/out telling me. IDK if I'm an Illinois resident anymore (was hoping to switch to MI residency soon anyway). General suggestions?
