NFL DRAFT: Wait on QB until.....2017

Guys,

Full disclosure up front: I am a Clemson fan/alumni

That being said, how would everyone feel about passing (no pun intended) on drafting a QB high this year, and putting our marbles in the Deshaun Watson basket?

In all the football I've watched, I've never seen a combination of athleticism, smarts, and throwing ability like Watson. He could legitimately come in and be Russell Wilson's scrambling/rushing combined with a more refined passing touch.

Go watch this guy's tape. Specifically against BAMA, UNC, FSU, and NCST. Then tell me why you don't want him on your team more than any QB in this year's draft.

**EDIT: **

Guys, waiting on the right QB =/= tanking. It simply means you give Keenum a full year, Mannion his chance, or Foles his 2nd chance....hopefully behind a line that has a little more experience and depth than it did last year, a top WR draft pick, and a full year of Gurley...

Lynch, Goff, and Wentz all could be GREAT for this team. I love certain things about all of them, but all have at least one major concern as well. I see Watson as the best QB prospect among them. None of the guys this year are as good of prospects at Mariota or Winston last year. Maybe not even as good (on tape) as Teddy B or Bortles...

The way I see it...

Lynch

Why he's our guy: Extremely athletic with all the physical tools that could excel in a run-first / PA heavy offense Why he's NOT our guy: Played in a very vanilla offense at Memphis that could struggle mightily to pick up NFL O

Goff

Why he's our guy: True pocket passer that displays beyond exceptional poise, awareness, and patience in the pocket Why he's NOT our guy: We aren't a team built to win with a pass heavy attack, and will need to build NFL strength for 1-2 years to realize potential

Wentz

Why he's our guy: Above average QB prospect, seemingly across the board AKA 'very good at all, master of none' Why he's NOT our guy: Level of competition; It's always going to be a crapshoot when you go from his level to NFL-caliber.
