How can I succeed in general chemistry?

I am in gen chem 2 right now and i had my first test today. i was so stressed/excited and i got the grade back and i got a 77.. i felt like i knew everything but i guess i didnt. in gen chem 1, i got a C, and my test grades were 71, 69.5 74.5 and then a 74 on the final so i guess this is an improvement? i was kind of disappointed though :( WHat can I do to improve??? i really want an A in this class!
