Did I get taken for a ride? Replacing brakes on 1987 Camaro
Went to Meineke because I didn't have the time to do it myself, they did the following:
Brake inspection, replace both front brake rotors, rebuilt both front calipers with new hardware, replaced both front pads, replaced wheel seals, replaced and repacked both front wheel bearings, and then bled my brakes. They charged $768 (363 in parts, 303 in labor, and 40 for 'shop supplies').
I knew getting it done by a shop would be significantly more expensive than doing it myself, so just comparing this to what other shops would charge (not what it would cost me to do it myself), is this horrendous?
The rebuilt the calipers because my brakes were so worn down that they overextended, and replaced the bearings because both wheels were making horrendous screeching noises when they turned. Rotors needed replacing because the pads had been completely gone for probably a week or more.
