Improving the freezing on FireStick

I was wondering if anyone has a "fix" for the constant freezing during updates on the Firestick. 9/10 If I boot up KODI after being idle for a week I will get bombarded with addon updates and during this process I try to let the stick sit there and just do it's thing but it usually freezes. I have to always force quit the application by going into the settings and then restart KODI numerous times before everything settles down. Has anyone been able to improve this?? I want to limit the freezing as much as I can. I have binded double click on the Home button in firestarter to launch a clean instance of KODI but, I think I have to tweak the double click threshold because it never really works for me. Anyway...would love to hear what exactly you guys have came up with..
