What does [M], -C-, etc in pro players names mean?

I've been very interested in knowing what it means when pro players like dev1ce or even kennyS had [M] in their names. Even Rpk had -C- in his name. Is there something special to this or a certain meaning, or do they just do it to do it? I believe even k1o & apex had something similar to this as well.
