Kitchen Wiring Specs (U.K)

Hey all,

Any knowledgeable Sparkies out there fancy having a squint through this for me?

I am refitting the kitchen and Mrs Mimicking-hiccuping would like an electric Oven and Induction Hob instead of the Gas appliances that are currently fitted.

Going by the British Standards stuff for ‘Household cooking appliances’, “The first 10A of the rated current plus 30% of the remainder of the rated current plus 5A if a socket outlet is incorporated in the control unit”

We are going for to go for Gorenje whites so the connected loads for the models are:

  • Oven 3300 W,

  • Hob 7100 W.

Please correct my maths if its shit.

3300w / 230v = 14.4A , and 7100w / 230v = 31A

14.4A + 31A = 45.4A

45.4A – 10A = 35.4A

35.4 * 0.3 = 10.62A

So: First 10A + 30% of the remainder of the rated current @ 10.62A + 5A for any socket = 25.62A

I plan to run this from a 40Amp breaker from my Consumer Unit on a 6mm cable to two separate CCU’s as the Hob is about 2 meters from the Oven.

My question is have I got this all right?
