J Hi, I was talking to some friends and one is mormon and they went on to say how mormons believe we can be married in heaven. 3:51 PM Why would there be marriage in heaven?

A That's a great question! We believe that God is our loving Heavenly Father. Do you believe that as well? 3:52 PM

A That's so great! Well because our Heavenly Father loves us, He wants us to be happy. He has a plan for each of us to experience complete joy! Part of experiencing that happiness comes from our families. How have you seen that families can help us be happy? 3:54 PM

J Ok, I avoid many family members and would not want to be with them forever, but again what purpose would you need to be married in heaven? I can see being a family , that is a common belief. But other then just having the history of being married, does being married in heaven serve the purpose of having kids there? I mean that cant be the purpose of it can it? 4:04 PM

A Those are great questions, and I totally understand what you mean. I think your friend might have not fully explained that! If we are married here, we don't need to be married after this life. But because marriage and families can bring us so much joy, our Heavenly Father wants that for each of us! Not everyone will get that opportunity in this life, so they will be given that opportunity afterwards. Does that make sense? 4:07 PM

A Righteous people who don't find a spouse in this life will be able to find one after this life, so that they can experience the joy of marriage and families. :) 4:09 PM

J ok, so if they did not know a spouse in this life, why would they need on in the next life? 4:09 PM you say it is so they know the joy of marriage and families, does that mean they have sex in heaven and have children there?

A Actually I'm not totally sure about that... But the main purpose is to have that wonderful eternal companionship with someone you love! 4:14 PM

J so what happens if your spouse here does not make it to heaven, what then? 4:14 PM

A That's a really good question. We believe that after we die we go to the spirit world, where we can learn even more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. After we learn and choose to accept or not accept the gospel is when we are judged. After that we believe there are 3 different degrees of glory where we are placed according to how we live and the desires of our hearts. I know this is kind of a lot of information all at once haha, I just don't know how else to explain it!! Does all of that make sense? :) 4:20 PM

J why would anyone who has died and is then told Jesus is real, and if they reject that they do not get to go to heaven, then no one would reject that lol 4:21 PM that is like walking into a building and they give you a million dollars and you say nope, I don't believe it and walk out, but you cant walk out because you did not take the million dollars so they throw you into jail forever 4:22 PM

A Haha I agree! But after we die we still will have all of our same personalities, hobbies, and even addictions, etc. So people who are set in their ways and don't want to change still have that option. They aren't going to see Christ until judgement, they will just have the opportunity to learn (as they do on earth) and either accept or reject those things! But you are so right! 4:22 PM

A I know for myself that God really is our loving Heavenly Father, that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to be our Savior, and that there is a specific plan for each of us. There was definitely a time in my life when I did not understand or even really believe, but I now KNOW without a doubt that these things are true. Would you be willing to pray about this? 4:26 PM

A He really does love each of us individually. Like I said, people have the same personalities after they die. One must have a true change of heart to truly repent and accept the gospel! It won't be as plain as day afterwards, it will be something they have to seek and learn about, just as they do here. :) 4:29 PM

A Haha yes, they know they are dead. :) But the kingdom they are placed in is determined by the desires of their hearts, the reasons they are doing things and whether or not they have truly repented. How do you think a righteous person would feel in the presence of God versus someone who didn't repent? 4:31 PM

J but they would repent, Hitler would repent, Trump would repent. They are not dumb people 4:32 PM no one is going to refuse a million dollars if the choice is going to prison instead you literally are told if you do not repent and believe in Jesus you literally are going to hell, but if you do repent you go to heven they have a figurative gun being held to their head and told to make a choice it was nice talking to you but this seems like a really poorly thought out theology to tell the truth but hey, you can believe whatever you want

A Their understanding and learning of the gospel in the spirit world will be no different then how they would learn and understand on earth. If people have the opportunity to learn about the gospel on earth and reject it, they will have that same personality afterwards and it will be no easier for them to see the full picture then than it is here. A I just want to testify to you that I know this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I can tell you that forever but the only way you will know for yourself is if you sincerely pray and ask our loving Heavenly Father. I know He will answer you and help you understand His plan for each of us! 4:37 PM

I can wait until I die, then accept Jesus and I am good to go I can enjoy my coffee and have a beer with friend laughing and having fun and not give money to a religion nor have to do their bidding here on earth 4:40 PM I can just agree with what they teach me in the spirit world and get in to super vip heaven well, I hope you guy are actually right, because that sounds like a good plan to secure my place in heaven :)

A That's actually not what we believe just to be clear! We definitely need to be following the teachings of Christ here on earth. But anybody who was NEVER given the opportunity to learn about Christ on earth will be given that chance after. 4:42 PM

A If you truly have a change of heart then of course! Heavenly Father loves you and wants the best for you. But like I said, each person has the same personality, so if they didn't accept Christ here, why would they there? Um because they are dead, they have to take a class by the people in charge who tell them they were wrong in their lives, that Jesus is real and they have to accept him as savoir and repent or they will be punished forever...THAT IS WHY THEY WOULD ACCEPT IT THERE 4:46 PM That is exactly the reason you accept it here same reason

A I don't want to argue with you at all, but I do want you to know that the reason I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is because of the joy it brings into my life. Because I know what my Savior has done for me and I love Him so much!! That is why I try my very best to live how He has asked me to. But obviously I make so many mistakes, but it's okay because Christ suffered and died for me to overcome those things! What does it mean to you that Christ did that for you? 4:51 PM

J Sure, of course 4:58 PM but you are a member because you believe it is the right path to getting into heaven and living with God that is my point, that is the same reason a dead person would always choose heaven over hell when forecd to make a choice in the afterlife

A I can't wait to have the chance to live with my Heavenly Father again! But my main motive is not merely to get into Heaven... I totally get what you are saying though, I think everyone should accept the gospel the second they hear about it, and start getting the amazing blessings and joy that comes from it!! P God gave us His gospel, and commandments, so that we can be happy! The more we try to come closer to Christ, the more blessings we will receive:) God loves us so much that He gave us a way to be happy in this life! 5:02 PM

A Have you ever done something nice for somebody and just felt good about it afterwards? 5:04 PM God's primary goal and desire is for us to be happy. That's why he has given us certain commandments! It's like when a parent gives their child a treat for doing something good. Our Heavenly Father wants to bless us, especially when we are trying to do those things He has asked us to do!
