Ideologies and Industrialization
One of my least-favorite parts of the game as it is currently constructed is the Renaissance into industrial eras, where basically at some point you are always just clicking on industrialization and trying to get factories/ideology as fast as possible. With early adopter bonuses, and with ideologies buffed and still being situational in nature, this is even more pronounced. Oxfording into radio is much slower than 3 factories, plus uses up Oxford. Getting factories makes building schools faster. Basically, it is just a no-brainer in at least 90% of cases. Enter industrial through industrialization.
This is similar to why Hubble was so dumb before its nerf. Sometime after getting oil tech, you just clicked on satellites and raced to Hubble. Everyone wants diverse strategies to be able to succeed, and when game scenarios become stale, this is something I feel the mod should be addressing.
The solution I propose is to unbind Scientific Theory from Economics. Give players a super greed path through Renaissance, allow Oxfording Radio to have a chance at first ideology, and add a little bit of variation to that part of the game. I think going industrialization first would still be the way to go in most cases, but there could be strong plays that involved Scientific Theory first.
Just a thought, any opinions? Do others feel there is a problem here or am I just creating one?
