Scott sat in the middle seat of the plane, wondering why his mom would have put him in this situation. As usual, she decided to have a last minute trip off to somewhere exotic, this time Japan. I begged to go with her. Japan sounded like an amazing place, and I wanted to go, but as usual she wouldn't let me go with her. It was too expensive.

Instead of spending the summer in the land of the rising sun, I was off to stay with my Aunt. I had never met the woman and had no idea what to expect. All I knew about her was that she was very prim and prissy, something my mother was not. I didn't understand why I had to go and spend the summer with my Aunt, I was in college after all. Why couldn't I just stay at home and lounge about?

After what seemed like a long flight, I finally disembarked into a new adventure for the summer. Walking down the terminal, I finally ran into a sea of people, all holding up signs, looking for people. I did a quick scan of names and didn’t see my name anywhere. After searching for a while, I finally saw someone that looked similar to my mother. The only thing was, she was holding up a glittery, girly sign with the name Summer on it.

Walking over to this woman, I introduced myself “Hi, I’m guessing you must be my Aunt?” A quick confused and angry glare at me she replied “Your Samantha's son?...Then I am your Aunt Maddy”. Little did I know that Maddy was expecting a girl not a boy. I didn't realize that that mother and her had a rocky past. They barely even talked about me. I guess with that little of conversation and my mother's poor planning, my Aunt didn't even realize that I was a boy, not a girl.

The other more important fact that I didn't know was what my Aunt had planned for me this summer. She had a very prissy and girly summer planned for her niece. She couldn't wait to spend hours at the salon, shopping, and teaching her tomboy of a niece to be the perfect little lady. She already had some ballet and ballroom dance lessons ready for them as well. Maddy was planning to return a very prissy girl to her mother by the end of the summer. What was she going to do with a boy?

I lead the way towards the baggage claim, with you following behind, watching me. I moved like a boy with long, heavy strides, almost confident. Once we arrived, we stood and waited for my luggage. We stood there for a long time until I realized what must have occurred, the airline must have lost my luggage. "What are we going to do aunt Maddy?" I say scared and nervous. "That bag had everything of mine in it, I barely have anything in my carry on!". That when the idea stuck Maddy like a brick.
