Are "Hacker" players useful?

Hello! I'm newish to battlefield hardline and I'm trying to find my calling in this game, what class i like to play and how to contribute to my team in the best way possible.

So i look at the various classes and stumble across the "hacker" mode and liked the idea of being this off map support guy that has special abilities.

But I'm wondering if the Hacker is at all useful to the entire team? Do people in theses public matches actually use this Intel I'm feeding them to their advantage? Do theses fast deploys and squad upgrades really make a difference?

I been doing it for awhile now and i think I'm getting better at it, but I'm wondering if i would be more useful out in the field taking bullets and throwing med kits at people
