Incorrect claim messing up all incoming claims.
Ok, here's the gist:
Paid Doctor's Office $1600 for a surgery procedure. Was told price included the remainder of the deductible and our 20%.
Doctor misfiled the claim with the wrong $ amount and it didn't reflect that we met the deductible.
Now we are getting bills that should have been paid by the insurance company since the deductible was met.
Insurance company told me today that even if the Doctor's office files the correct claim (Insurance company says they haven't, Doctor's says they have), they cannot readjust the claims (the hospital, various Doctors) that were filed after and I will be financially responsible for all of them, regardless of the error.
My question is, is this correct? Do I have any alternative options or can I fight this? I was counting on the fact that we were going to met the deductible to minimize the remaining cost of my surgery. Due to this error, we are going to owe upwards of $2000.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! (sorry about formatting, I'm new)
