Why do nurses not like nursing students?
I am a nursing student and we had our last med-surg. rotation today. For the past two semesters, most of the nurses we work with on the units absolutely hate us! They don't speak to us, they give us short/not helpful answers, they don't like for us to follow and ask questions, and they don't like to show or explain anything to us. Is it just a thing that all student nurses have to go through a "hazing" period? Or do they just not like us? Don't get me wrong, we have had a few wonderful nurses who want and go out of their way to help and teach, but most don't. Is there anything I can do? They were in our shoes at one point and probably wished that someone would help them too. I don't know why someone would be deliberately mean and rude to someone else, especially when we are there to learn and gain experience. Any advice would be appreciated.
