SV, but also NSV - at last, the whoosh!
I've been at a plateau for a couple weeks, with my weight inching up or down in amounts of tenths of a pound. I checked and doublechecked my calories (everything good on that front, my roommate even supports me by reminding me to log things if I forget) and got increasingly frustrated when the weight didn't drop and didn't drop and STILL DIDN'T DROP.
I tried to remind myself that hey, this whole thing is a journey and sometimes journeys have setbacks or slowdowns. That wasn't working so I hopped onto /loseit and started reading various SV and NSV posts and remembered "the whoosh." I decided to give it one more week before getting really concerned about the lack of progress I was seeing and when I got up and weighed myself today, bang! 3.5 pounds gone, all in one fell swoop!
Clearly I was retaining some water in there (probably related to the fact that I've started lifting weights. Can't believe I never thought of it while the scale wasn't moving.). I just wanted to thank everyone here at loseit for reminding me that water retention is a thing and that as long as you follow your CICO, the whoosh will eventually happen. I'm on the right track and I know it, but checking in on loseit and seeing other people experiencing the whoosh helped reinforce that--and also helped me not freak out too much when the scale refused to budge for a while.
