200mg Cookie, Zero Experience w/ Edibles. How Should I Go About This?

I've been gifted a 200mg THC cookie. Looks awesome. I want to eat it sooner rather than later in case it loses its potency (is that possible?) but I also don't want to be fucked up for an entire day. What do?
