TIFU by trying to open a door and ruining my finger in the process

S

Backstory time: I'm in high school and I play the violin. My class usually plays in the band room at my school because no band class would use it for the second period. This is also convenient because all of the string instruments are stored there so that students don't have to carry their instruments around. This year however, there is an actual band class for that period. Because of this, my class and I now play in the auditorium. Backstory time now over.

This actually happened today, so yay me. Anyways, class ended six minutes earlier than usual which doesn't sound like it would make it difference but it does.

The class had ended, and I had gone to the band room to put up my instrument. My class had ended, but the concert band had not. As to not disrupt the class, I opened the door slowly. Mission accomplished. I put my instrument up and made my way to back to the door.

Now, the door has a crash bar instead of a handle so I started pushing the door slowly again. This is when my hand slips causing my finger to go right into the latch. I didn't even react. I think this was mostly to shock. The door had shut and I had to calmly act as if I had not just crushed my left index finger. I walked back to class and had to explain to my teacher what had happened. She gave me a face of both confusion and disappointment.

The worst part is that earlier this week I had cut the same finger trying to open another door. That time I thought the door was unlocked when it wasn't and I slammed into it cutting my finger in the process. On the bright side, I'm not going to be able to participate in class until it gets better.

TL;DR A door tried to make s'mores with my finger.
