Core i3 3240 on a Supermicro with a C204 PCH chipset and ECC RAM

Reading all sorts of conflicting information about this CPU. I recall Intel ARK says it supported ECC RAM with certain chipsets, people saying that it passes a test but now the footnote is no longer on Intel's site and people saying that the test results are not accurate.

Should I work this CPU out and replace it with a Xeon E3 1200 v2 series chip?
