[Breeds] Any advice for someone getting a Labrador for the first time?

Hey, I've read up on some of the info online about Labradors, but I was just wondering if there are any owners or previous owners who could give me some advice/tips on having a Labrador for the first time.

For context, we're going to be adopting the lab, so we won't be getting it from a pup. I had a Bullmastiff for 10 years, so I have a fair bit of experience with big dogs. I've heard that labs need loads of walking, I have a friend who walks his six times per day. How regularly and how far should they be walked?

General tips, advice and notes would be appreciated!
