[TECH] (#12) Textile Merchants Make Discovery
So far we have been reliant on primitive forms of weaving to create and fix fabrics. Two merchants have discovered an old machine which they claim to have reversed engineered. Now they petition the Council to approve funds to protect and develop this machine. They say that if successful the working fabric and fine fabric industries in Zara and Ragusa would flourish leading to an increase in trade to our Republic which will in turn bring greater wealth. They also desire a monopoly on the creation and use of the machine in order to protect their trade. [The province of Zara gains the resource Working fabrics, the province of Ragusa gets the resource Fine fabrics]
1-2: The Council sees the creation of these machines as an affront to God and accuses the men of heresy. To redeem themselves they must redesign the machine to only print bible verses onto existing fabric. [Provinces do not gain the resources]
3-10: The Council approves the creation of the machines but they insist on having a say in the process. Because the Councilmen know nothing of engineering, the project will be delayed by 6 months.
11-18: The Council approves the merchants request, grants them the monopoly and provides the necessary funds and material to make sure the project is finished by the deadline. [operations begin in 6 months, the industry is fully established in a year.]
19-20: The Council is convinced that these men are agents of God, sent to bring prosperity to the Republic. All the noble families invest in the industry and place orders for luxury fabrics. The fabrics will also be used to improve military gear to create better uniforms and equipment.
