My OMFG list

The following I remember VERY clearly due to a wikipedia binge 3 years ago after discovering that "Republic of China" and "People's Republic of China" were 2 different countries... as a result, I know these have RECENTLY changed (for me at least).

1- Korea is too far north

2- North Korea should not share a border with ANY other countries but China and South Korea. This is (was??) an important factor in North Korea's dependence on China.

3- Japan is too far north

4- Australia is too close to China, and the island nations in between China and Australia are too bunched up.

5- Taiwan should NOT be an island, but instead a peninsula connected to china, roughly where Hainan island is. (and Korea a bit to the east)

(southeast asia looks all wrong, with the exception of Viet Nam looking 100% correct... but I can't say specifically what's wrong)

Things I realized myself, but dismissed it (years ago, before I had heard of ME or considered that the universe could be getting it 'wrong'):

6- Berenstein Bears. I used to call them the Frankenstein Bears. As a kid, the only 'stein' i knew of was Franken... and I thought it was truly bizarre that a book for little kids would have a scary monster name.

7- Febuary. I don't know when this happened, but it used to be Febuary, not February.

8- Jim Bean. Another one I dismissed as me getting it wrong.

Stuff other's have mentioned that gave me a HOLY SHIT I REMEMBER THAT!!!! moment:

9- Ford used to have the Chevy 'slanted plus' logo. I remember this in the early/mid eighties. MIND. BLOWN.

10- Fabreeze. FAB for FABric, EEZE for ease. Originally a Fabric deodorizer to use when scented fabric softener sheets weren't enough. WTF is FEBreeze? February breeze?!

Other weird shat:

11- Tiannemen square tank guy--

*What I remember: Young looking guy (probably early 20s) with a headband on stands up to one tank, inside Tiannemen square. tank moves toward him a few times, faking that it will run him over. He takes a step back once or twice, but then holds his ground, as tank moves to an inch or two away from him. Tank does not advance further. No one knew what happened to 'tank guy', but it was strongly suspected that he was later captured by Chinese military police and executed.

*What I see on Youtube: A line of tanks stopped by an older looking guy carrying what appears to be plastic grocery bags (WTF??!). Appears to be occurring on a large street near the square, not in the square its self. No headband. Video is from the opposite angle (I remember tank coming from the left). Some remember him getting run over, others not.

12- Mongolia should not be a country. People seem to remember it as part of china. I remember it as part of Russia.

13- Canada is wrong. It has too many provinces now. The Canada I remember had 6 large chunks, and 2 or 3 smaller chunks. Bizarro Canada has a dozen pieces. The only one I am sure is 'new' is Nunavut. Never saw a part of Canada named Nunavut until 3 days ago.

14- I recall Newfoundland being a country, not a part of Canada.

15- Fruit Loops, not Froot Loops.

16- Depends, not Depend.

17- Rod Sterling, not Serling.

18- Desi Arnez, not Desi Arnaz.

19- Weeks used to start on Monday, and end on Sunday (the seventh day in Christian calendar). That was a standard that ALL calendars followed. Now they seem to start on Sunday and end on Saturday (the seventh day in Jewish calendar). I VERY clearly remember mon-sun calendars in the 1980s. THERE WERE NO OTHER KIND. You know what a "week end" is right? The two days at the END of the WEEK...?!??!?! Googling for vintage calendars only shows me images of sun-sat calendars.... So this seems to be a ME, not something that changed at some point.

I'm sure there are many more that I can't think of at the moment.

There are a few specific items above, for which I am VERY curious to know if there is anyone who remembers these things the way I do..... Specificially, 2, 5, 11, 12, 13, and 19.
