Apex Edition/uplay Perks question

Hey guys so I got the digital apex edition. Started playing today and when I did I noticed right away that it says in game that the skins are automatically applied and mentioned when the bonus quests will become available. (Text popped up in the top left corner during the into mission.)

My question is specifically about the 3 "perks" from the apex edition (hunter, crafter, and gather iirc) and the uplay purchasable reward perk (shaman iirc). I didn't catch any indication from the game as to whether or not these are applied automatically or how to access them, (i.e. A prerequisite or something).

Anyone have a solid answer on this? Are they automatically applied at the beginning like the skins? They all show they've been successfully installed. In addition the purchasable uplay shard loaded in automatically at the beginning of the game. Anyone got an answer?
