My family is irresponsible!

Let me preface this by saying I have a 15 yo sister and a 9 yo brother who always wanted a puppy. I also love puppies! Who wouldn't want one!

The problem is we just don't have time. We all work and go to school full time.

My dad's friend was giving away a dog and of course my dad got it. She is currently 7/8 weeks old.

Now it's just laying in his crate all night in the basement and all day with several hours of play time when we get home I suppose. My dad comes home at lunch to let it out to poop and pee. and then by 3 my sister let's her out to poop and pee one more time when she gets home from school.

I also let it out to poop and pee one last time before bed(Should I also let her out once in the middle of the night?)

My dad says it's "normal". It's just an animal! Don't baby it too much!

This is certainly not healthy. He doesn't want to keep it upstairs for now because it would poop and pee everywhere in the living room.

I voiced my concern that if we can't give her love and care, we should give her away to another loving family.

We all love her of course but I want to think about the wellbeing of the puppy.

Granted, the previous owner just let it stayed outside all day. Which is probably no better.

What do I do? He won't give her away.

I'm trying the best I can juggling school and work while doing the best for the puppy.
