Knowing if you can afford to live alone.

Budgeting

So up until a week or so ago I was living with my mother. We had a decent apartment and I paid a portion of it to help out (250 a month). We were

Right now we are kind of having some trouble finding a decent place to move to. We looked at a place tonight but i didnt really like it.

I have been thinking due to the situation if it would be possible for me to live on my own and get like a studio apartment or something.

I earn around 1,740 a month. Monthly musts are my Car (300), Insurance (200), Rent (aiming for 5 to 600 monthly). Which leaves about 660 a month for everything else. Keep in mind im doing an apprenticeship program which allows me to earn pay raises every so often up to a maximum amount when i finish. So my current wages will definitely increase over time.

Im not sure how much Id be paying for food and water and whatnot. But 660 seems like a pretty decent padding.

I live in Nashville, Tn. Is it possible for someone making as much as I to live alone? I also have a dog too which would add some costs.

Im just really not sure if I could do it or if it would even be advised at this point. I have a friend whom was able to live on less than what I make says its possible but the paranoid side of me isnt sure and im not sure if it would be the best thing to do.
