Raw Split Push Teemo

Hi Reddit!

I want to find out if this would be an optimal thing to do. You can skip this paragraph if you want, I'm going to explain where the idea came from and ramble a bit. Alright, so I picked up and have been playing a lot of tryndamere recently and really like his split pushing playstyle, where I can just stay top or go bot and just keep applying pressure, pushing, farming, stealing the enemy's jungle, or grab a dragon when there is a team fight going on. All of this while still being able to remain a threat without having to teamfight. It also uses most of my major flaws to play well thus forcing me to be able to work on things like map awareness and farming that I probably would have a harder time doing with a playstyle that didn't require it as much. I also play some teemo top lane although, I might try and learn him jungle later too. But that's beside the point. Loving both champs I think I see some potential in a raw split push teemo. I will make these points and compare the two champs later in the post.

TL:DR: I play trynd who is as you probably know is raw split push champ. I think I can see potential in a raw split push teemo. I will state why and compare the champs later in the post.

I have come here to see what you guys think about raw split push teemo. Is it optimal and what are your thoughts on this?

The pros and reasons I think it could work are:

  • He is ranged so he can stay out of auto attack range and kite
  • He scales well with attack speed.
  • With his passive he can hide and it grants attack speed after use.
  • His Q can be used to negate auto attack damage
  • His W gives him a movement speed buff good for escape/engage.
  • His mushrooms provide utility to escape ganks or win trades.
  • Mushrooms can be used as a ward.

CONS:

  • Short range
  • Squishy
  • Hard to catch up when behind
  • Mushrooms can be countered with pink wards or oracles

As for tryndamere

PROS:

  • Scales with attack speed, damage, and crit chance.
  • Passive builds rage that gives crit chance as you auto attack.
  • Can spend rage for a heal but loses crits from rage.
  • W reduces attack damage of nearby enemies
  • W slows enemies with their backs toward you
  • E is used as an escape or engage and goes through thin walls.
  • Cant die for 5 seconds with ult
  • Ult heals to 3% hp if lower than 3% when it ends.
  • Can dive with ult

CONS:

  • Can be kited
  • Squishy
  • Hard to catch up when behind
  • Relies on farm or getting fed
  • Hard CC is major threat

I want to say I am not trying to optimize a build for teemo, so even though I have no idea if this is even a optimal playstyle, I am going to list some items I think might be viable. Right now my main focus is to figure out if the playstyle is optimal! Please note that I have seen people build ad or hybrid teemo but I have no experience with it so I don't know how well AD items will work on teemo so i won't include them.

Possible items

  • runaan's hurricane
  • zz'rot portal
  • Phantom Dancer
  • Guinsoo's Rageblade (probably a later item 8 autos is a lot)
  • Berserker's Greaves and/or boots of swiftness
  • Nashor's Tooth
  • Dervish Blade
  • Rapid Fire Cannon
  • Wit's End
  • AP or magic pen items

So there you have it. Why I think raw split push teemo could be viable and his comparison to one of the strongest split pushers. Please feel free to add something of your own or something I missed. Now with everything else out of the way, time for the major question: Do you guys think raw split push teemo will be optimal?
